Bite-size answers to commonly asked questions from inquiring minds

About Butwhydad.co.uk
Butwhydad.co.uk was inspired by my children and before them my sister’s children. And my friends’ and neighbours’ children. In fact, all of the children that have asked me obvious questions throughout my adult life and which I’ve failed miserably to answer.
This web site takes these and other such inquiries which - over the years - I have struggled and embarrassed myself with, avoided and even lied about, and sets about providing answers to them. Answers which I hope are interesting to you the reader, understandable, not overly long and (largely) correct.
However, perhaps the most commonly asked question by children is one that I’ve not attempted to address on this site. “Dad, where do babies come from?”. I’m afraid you’re on your own with that one!
What this web site is not
Although this site sets out to provide accurate answers to certain queries it does not pretend to be a definitive authority on these matters. Nor does the scope of this site allow one to enter into the detail that many of these subjects warrant.
If you read anything that you feel is inaccurate or unclear please feel free to contact us (see the orange Contact & Links tab above or click here for details).
We aim to add content to the site on an ongoing basis and welcome your suggestions, ideas and feedback.
